The American Institute for Health and Medicine (AIAH), a nonpartisan organization that advocates for health and well-being, says that one reason why losing weight is so difficult is because we don’t always have the tools to support ourselves and our families.

In the past few years, many businesses have been making strides to offer healthy meals, such as making it easier for employees to share their meals, and making it more affordable to purchase healthier food.

The latest move in this direction is to expand access to affordable, nutritious meals.

“Losing weight has been a long-term goal for many Americans, but many don’t have the financial resources or the ability to reach the goals,” said Dr. Susan K. Anderson, a board-certified endocrinologist and the executive director of the AIAH.

But even with the advancements in our understanding of the mechanisms behind weight loss, weight loss still remains an uphill battle for many.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2017, nearly 10 million Americans lost weight, up from 6.4 million in 2015.

Experts say that this number is likely higher, because it includes people who have not gained weight in the past year and are still losing weight.
